Job Summary

Melrose/Wakefield Hospital, part of the Tufts Medicine system, is seeking a highly skilled Athletic Trainer to join our team. As a Rehabilitation Specialist, you will provide medical and rehabilitative care to patients, utilizing your expertise in preventative, rehabilitative, and emergency care to assist patients in achieving optimal functioning.

This is a unique opportunity to work with high school students at their training facilities or on the field, following all applicable school policies. If assigned to work with high school students, you will develop plans for providing athletic training coverage at all interscholastic athletic events, establish and maintain a budget for athletic training supplies/equipment, and develop comprehensive venue and condition-specific emergency action plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform initial evaluations, coordinate treatment plans, and monitor patient progress
  • Provide routine medical care, including minor dressing changes, suture or staple removal, and health education
  • Assist with non-essential and non-clinical tasks to support the quality of care within the Department
  • Develop and maintain a budget for athletic training supplies/equipment, if assigned to work with high school students

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field
  • Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers or eligibility
  • Athletic Training license or eligibility to become licensed within 6 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certified
