Job Title: Inclusive Education Specialist

Location: Washington D.C. area

We are seeking an Inclusive Education Specialist to join our team at the Youth Services Center (YSC). As an integral member of our educational staff, you will work collaboratively with teachers and school leaders to ensure that students with special needs receive tailored support.

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will have experience working with incarcerated or opportunity youth and possess knowledge of research-based instructional strategies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with general education teachers to implement IEP accommodations and modify lessons for diverse learning needs
  • Participate in professional development training in special education and facilitate staff development workshops
  • Communicate closely with families, school professionals, and outside service providers as needed
  • Teach content area classes using the co-teaching model
  • Manage a caseload of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or relevant subject field
  • Must be eligible for certification by DC OSSE in the appropriate content area within one year of employment
  • Experience working with incarcerated or opportunity youth preferred
  • Familiarity with research-based instructional strategies required

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000-$80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. Our benefits package includes health care coverage, HSA/FSA, commuter benefits, 401(k) retirement savings plan, student loan refinancing options, and more.
