Job Summary:

The Surgical Technician will work under the guidance of the Registered Nurse to ensure the care and safety of patients during surgical procedures. This role requires technical assistance in the Operating Room, knowledge of patient ages, and adherence to asepsis principles. The ideal candidate will be organized, able to prepare the room for procedures, and maintain a sterile field.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the room for surgical procedures with the nursing staff in a timely and organized manner
• Practice asepsis principles and maintain a sterile field during procedures
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize equipment in the OR and Endoscopic Lab
• Coordinate patient care with the RN Circulator
• Stock and replace CS items, prepare CS inventory sheets
• Assist physicians during surgical procedures and have correct instrumentation organized and available
• Follow verbal physician orders in the operating suite
• Handle surgical specimens and compile necessary equipment on the surgical field
• Document unusual occurrence reports and other departmental forms as required
• Perform CPR as needed and use applicable instruments and equipment correctly
• Clean and wrap instruments for sterilization
• Transport patients to and from the OR
• Monitor surgical equipment, maintenance, and repairs
• Complete duties as a technical scrub in the OR
• Prepare room and equipment for Endoscopy procedures

Requirements:

• Must be currently active in the state
• Less than 1 year of experience
• 40 minimum guaranteed hours
• BLS/BCLS certification
• No bilingual requirement
• Meditech EMR used
• Holiday coverage required
