Role Summary:

The Cardiovascular Ultrasound Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality education and mentorship to students in the cardiovascular ultrasound field. Faculty members are essential in creating an engaging educational atmosphere that promotes student achievement. Instructors will provide effective teaching in accordance with established syllabi and program standards while collaborating with fellow department members. Professionalism in appearance, behavior, and communication is expected at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain current syllabi for both theoretical and practical courses, ensuring alignment with program goals and industry benchmarks.
  • Conduct engaging lectures, optimize teaching resources, and establish clear expectations for student performance.
  • Provide hands-on instruction and demonstrations covering ergonomics, knobology, anatomy, and organ scanning techniques, utilizing up-to-date references.
  • Support students by addressing inquiries regarding protocols, procedures, and institutional policies, offering constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Demonstrate respect and understanding towards students, recognizing and accommodating their diverse backgrounds and educational needs.
  • Ensure laboratories are well-maintained and organized, facilitating a professional learning environment with student assistance.
  • Keep accurate academic and attendance records, submit grades in a timely manner, and communicate any academic concerns to the Program Director through appropriate channels.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of four years of relevant practical experience in the cardiovascular ultrasound field, along with a related degree at least at the same level as the course being taught.
  • Current certification(s) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or CCI, including compliance with continuing education requirements.
  • Active CPR/BLS certifications are required.
  • Knowledge of ECG, Stress Echo, and Pedoff probe scanning techniques is essential.
  • A comprehensive understanding of career pathways and employer expectations in the relevant fields of instruction.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in computer applications, internet research, and data management.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas is preferred, including familiarity with assignments, quizzes, and grade management.
  • Experience in online, hybrid, or blended teaching methodologies is highly desirable.

Work Environment:

The physical demands of this position require the ability to stand or sit for extended periods, lift objects up to 25 lbs independently, and possess sufficient dexterity to operate office equipment. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for interaction with students and colleagues.
