Job Overview:


Operates a heavy-duty truck with a capacity exceeding 3 tons to transport goods to and from designated locations while fulfilling the following responsibilities.


Physical Demands:
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, walk, use hands for various tasks, climb stairs or ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and see. Requires pushing, pulling, and reaching.
Job Responsibilities:


Engages in medium-level physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly to move items.


Accountable for driving commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating exceeding 26,001 lbs. to deliver or collect merchandise, materials, and equipment to assigned regional and/or local destinations in a timely manner.


May also be tasked with driving smaller vehicles weighing 10,000 pounds or less for transportation on public highways in interstate or foreign commerce, excluding passenger or hazardous materials vehicles.


Adheres to safety protocols for transporting goods, including securing cargo (may involve the use of tarps).


Safely maneuvers trucks into loading or unloading positions and performs loading and unloading tasks as necessary.


Conducts daily vehicle inspections as mandated by the FMCSA to ensure roadworthiness and that safety and emergency equipment are functioning properly.


Documents any inspection findings or defects on the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) as required by the FMCSA.


Utilizes an electronic logging device (ELD) to record daily activities in compliance with FMCSA regulations.


Reports traffic incidents, including accidents and violations, or any damage to vehicles to supervisory personnel.


Reviews bills of lading and manifests to ascertain assignment details.


Verifies all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy, obtaining receipts or signatures for delivered goods or collecting payments when necessary.


Communicates any delivery issues or concerns promptly.


Engages in routing activities as needed to optimize delivery efficiency.


Responsible for following safety processes and protocols.


Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.


Assists with loading materials onto trucks as required and allocates materials to trucks to enhance delivery efficiency.


Essential Qualifications:
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • 2 years of commercial driving experience with relevant cargo preferred.
  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for the assigned vehicle type required.
  • Successful completion of a road test required.
  • Ability to meet company insurability standards required.
  • Ability to comply with FMCSA drug and alcohol clearinghouse requirements.
  • Ability to fulfill all driver qualification requirements per Federal regulations (per 49 CFR part 391) required.
  • Ability to meet current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) quality criteria as defined by Federal regulations and/or company policy required.
  • No drug violations in the past 5 years and proof of completion of a certified SAP program for violations older than 5 years required.
  • Basic understanding of laws and regulations pertaining to commercial vehicle operations required.
  • Must wear company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as they apply to work situations required.
  • Basic measurement and arithmetic skills necessary for performing basic math computations accurately required.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and customers/vendors required.
  • Ability to make informed decisions based on a combination of knowledge, experience, and judgment required.

Compensation:
The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $30.25/Hr. - USD $30.25/Hr. based on experience, qualifications, and location.
