Postdoctoral Researcher in Skin Immunology

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The successful candidate will work in the Scumpia Laboratory, which is affiliated with the Department of Medicine/Division of Dermatology, the I3T, Bioengineering, and the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center (Tumor Cell Biology Program).
Job Summary:The postdoctoral position is focused on understanding how the immune system contributes to skin disease, including cutaneous wound healing, cutaneous infection, inflammatory skin disease, vaccine biology, and skin cancer. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in transgenic/knockout animal models, handling RNA, DNA, and protein.
Responsibilities:- Conduct research in the Scumpia Laboratory, focusing on skin immunology and systems biology
- Develop and implement novel research projects, including experimental design, data analysis, and manuscript preparation
- Collaborate with laboratory members, including postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate students
- Present research findings at national and international conferences
- Contribute to the development of research proposals and grant applications
- Ph.D. in Immunology, Systems Biology, or a related field
- At least one first-authored publication in a top-ranked, peer-reviewed journal
- Extensive experience in transgenic/knockout animal models, handling RNA, DNA, and protein
- Strong bioinformatic skills, a significant advantage
- Fluency in English and strong written and oral communication skills
- Permanent U.S. residency or citizenship, preferred but not required
