Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a facility-wide infection prevention and control program. This includes establishing systems for the prevention, identification, reporting, investigation, and control of infections and communicable diseases. You will also oversee the facility's antibiotic stewardship program and ensure that all policies and procedures are up-to-date and effective.

You will work closely with the Director of Nursing to ensure that quality of care is maintained at the highest standard. Additionally, you will provide education related to infection prevention and control principles, policies, and procedures to staff, residents, and families. Your strong clinical skills and compassionate personality will enable you to make a positive impact on our patients' lives.

As an Infection Prevention and Control Specialist, you will also be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing written policies and procedures in accordance with current standards of practice and recognized guidelines for infection prevention and control
  • Implements annual infection control risk assessment process and participates in the facility's annual facility assessment review process
  • Reviews and/or revises the facility's infection prevention and control program, its standards, policies, and procedures annually and as needed
  • Maintains documentation of infection prevention and control program activities
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A professionally-trained nurse or medical technologist (or clinical laboratory scientist) certificate/diploma or degree in nursing or medical technology/clinical laboratory science
  • Meet state requirements for relevant licensures or certifications and have no disciplinary action in effect against professional license
  • Education, training, experience, or certification in infection control and prevention
  • Completed specialized training in infection prevention and control through accredited continuing education
