U.S. Radiology Specialists is in search of a skilled and meticulous Insurance Authorization Specialist to join our dynamic team.

This role is pivotal in managing insurance benefits, confirming eligibility, and facilitating authorizations through both telephonic and online channels. Responsibilities include gathering precise demographic information, ensuring accurate data entry, scheduling appointments via phone, digitizing medical records, and executing various tasks to deliver prompt and effective services to patients, their families, and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and confirm patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization prerequisites through online platforms or phone communication.
  • Calculate and present Time of Service Estimates to patients.
  • Initiate, monitor, and secure pre-authorizations from insurance providers within designated timelines for procedures.
  • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology and maintain a high level of proficiency in standard medical office operations, including adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Relay any updates regarding insurance modifications or trends to the team.
  • Maintain productivity levels that align with departmental expectations.
  • Accurately document all interactions and communications with providers and staff in accordance with standardized documentation protocols.
  • Correct data entry discrepancies to ensure clean billing processes.
  • Request clinical or medical records as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in medical insurance verification and pre-certification.
  • Experience in radiology verification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with online insurance verification processes, including deductible and co-insurance calculations.
  • Prior experience with Aetna, Cigna, UHC, AIM, and Medsolutions is highly regarded.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating multitasking capabilities, working under pressure, and providing exceptional support to all staff, patients, and referring physician offices with a courteous and professional demeanor.
