Job Summary:

Apex Systems is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join our team. As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a critical role in defining and maintaining the company's Cloud Roadmap and Architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement cloud architecture solutions to meet the company's current and future needs, focusing on scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage and maintain cloud environments, including provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud spending, providing recommendations for cost-saving measures while maintaining performance.
  • Provide guidance and support to IT staff and university departments on cloud-related issues and best practices.
  • Design and implement disaster recovery plans for cloud-based systems to ensure business continuity.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or in a related area and/or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in cloud architecture and engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • Experience with cloud migration projects, including hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and identity management in a cloud environment.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and integrating on-premises systems with cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Platform as a Service.
  • Experience with Serverless computing such as AWS Lambda and Microsoft Azure Functions.
  • Proficiency in writing Python scripts to automate cloud integrations and operational tasks.
  • Understanding of cloud resource tagging, monitoring, and optimization through automation.
  • Ability to work with JSON, YAML, and other data formats commonly used in cloud configurations.
  • Familiarity with tools like Github, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Experience with Azure API Management for designing, deploying, and managing APIs in Azure.
  • Knowledge of virtual networks (VNets), subnets, and network security groups (NSGs).
