Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up instrumentation, analyzers, and devices according to project specifications.
  • Adjust Variable Frequency Drives to meet project requirements.
  • Carry out various installation tasks to support change order requests.
  • Modify PLC/Remote Panels as necessary.
  • Add or remove instrumentation or subsystems based on approved modifications.
  • Ensure the correct functioning of programmed logic in PLC systems with guidance from the on-site Process/Commissioning Engineer.
  • Verify and troubleshoot the proper operation of client integration and control systems, including communication protocols.
  • Collaborate with on-site contractors to ensure effective wiring and installation of company systems.
  • Modify PLC logic during system startup as directed by the Process/Commissioning Engineer.
  • Work with product vendors to resolve instrument and component issues during the startup phase.
  • Engage with application specialists and vendors during the design and specification stages of control equipment.
  • Document all changes and deviations from the planned installation for communication with Automation Engineers.
  • Provide technical support and training to Sales and Product Support teams.
  • Propose solutions to unexpected electrical or automation challenges during commissioning.
  • Assist Automation Engineers with final testing and simulation processes.
  • Help prepare documentation that defines project-specific programming requirements.
  • Gather and create component/control documentation as needed.
  • Conduct all work in compliance with established safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of drawings and associated data for future reference.
  • Support the technical and administrative processing of all project phases.
  • Evaluate and specify project requirements up to and including system commissioning activities.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to travel 80% of the time, with home visits every two weeks.
  • Technical education focused on PLC or electronics with at least 3 years of hands-on experience, or equivalent experience in a production, manufacturing, or design environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other related software.
  • Experience with instrumentation and PID control technologies.
  • Ability to make project-specific decisions and apply proper wiring techniques.
  • Competence in interpreting basic PLC logic and P&ID diagrams.
  • Familiarity with control systems such as:
    • Rockwell Systems: Control Logix 5000, Compact Logix, Panel Views
    • Siemens Systems: S7-400, S7-300, TIA Portal, PCS7, HMI
    • SCADA Systems: Wonderware Intouch, Archestra, GE-IP Cimplicity, WinCC
