Responsibilities:
The RN Circulator provides patient care in a hospital or inpatient environment where individuals may have complex illnesses or injuries requiring timely and intensive care to stabilize their medical condition. These areas necessitate a lower caregiver-to-patient ratio and highly skilled team members.
Essential Duties:
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge, skills, and judgment to care for patients needing intricate assessments and therapies, high-intensity interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance.
- Utilizes assessment data to anticipate and respond confidently to rapidly changing patient conditions.
- Identifies and prioritizes information to take immediate, evidence-based, patient-focused actions.
- Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, interpreting and recording electronic displays such as intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, and cardiac rhythms.
- Responds to life-threatening situations in accordance with nursing standards and protocols.
- Observes, monitors, and assesses patients' conditions, recognizing serious situations and communicating with physicians or implementing preplanned emergency measures when necessary.
- Assesses patient needs and develops or revises individualized care plans based on patient responses.
- Evaluates patient progress toward expected outcomes, respecting diversity and building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.
- Functions as a patient and family advocate.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
- Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
- Collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to effectively manage the unit/department.
- Maintains regular attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification; ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC may be required for specific areas.
- Prior experience as an OR Circulator is required.
