Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Transit Stop Maintenance Technician to join our team at Hampton Roads Transit. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our transit stops, including bus, light rail, and ferry stops.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance tasks at transit stops, including cleaning, repairing, and replacing damaged amenities.
  • Inspect and maintain the overall safety, appearance, cleanliness, and functionality of all transit stops.
  • Operate a variety of power and hand tools, including hoists, power washers, paint sprayers, and lawn care equipment.
  • Remove graffiti from passenger amenities and maintain landscaping around transit stops.
  • Empty and clean HRT trash containers and dispose of waste in appropriate dumpsters.
  • Pressure wash amenities and pavement around transit stops as directed.
  • Perform cleaning and related activities, including removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs.
  • Address emergencies at transit stops, including cleaning biohazard waste and mitigating dangerous conditions.
  • Submit Facilities Maintenance work orders when problems are identified.
  • Scan Am I Clean? QR Codes at each stop and report when a cleaning or maintenance issue has been addressed.
  • Maintain an inventory of tools and supplies and perform daily, weekly, and periodic maintenance on assigned equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED certificate required with basic mechanical skills and an understanding of tools and their use.
  • Minimum 1 year of general cleaning and/or facilities maintenance related work experience.
  • Possess a valid Driver's License and acquire a Virginia Driver's License within 60 days after the date of hire.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to dirt, odors, chemicals, and potential biohazards. The physical demands of this job include bending, crouching, stretching, reaching, lifting, and carrying up to 75 pounds.
