ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Professional Nurse in the Emergency Room - Float position is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the Nursing Process. This role involves implementing the Nursing Service standards of care and practice, tailored to the age groups of the patients served and the specific areas of clinical practice. The nurse will demonstrate critical thinking in assessing, planning, prioritizing, delivering, and evaluating patient care. Identifying individual patient and significant other learning needs and implementing appropriate strategies to address those needs is essential. The nurse will uphold patient rights with knowledge, respect, and sensitivity, acting as a patient advocate and ensuring confidentiality of patient information. Effective communication with staff, physicians, patients, and families is crucial, as is collaboration within the unit and with other departments. Participation in the development of standards and performance improvement activities within the unit is expected. The nurse will float between the Emergency Room and Med-Surg departments.
QualificationsA Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred. Candidates must be currently licensed and registered to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York. Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required. Experience in the Emergency Department is essential.
