Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Dialysis Staff Nurse to join our team at Washington University in St. Louis. As a Dialysis Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to individuals undergoing hemodialysis treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise delivery of patient care by technician staff and perform initiation, monitoring, and termination of treatment as needed.
  • Complete patient assessment, observe, monitor, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, administer dialysis medications and receive reports from staff members on patients under their care; complete all required documentation, including primary nurse responsibilities.
  • Review patient data and communicate accurate and pertinent information to the charge nurse or physician, charting entries appropriately.
  • Perform work according to nursing and facility standards inclusive of safety protocols, following state and facility guidelines.
  • Respond to patient and staff concerns in a timely and appropriate manner; pertinent information is reported to the charge nurse or nurse administrator while maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.

Working Conditions:

This position requires exposure to blood-borne pathogens, high noise environment, and requires protective devices. The job location is a patient care setting, direct patient care setting, and requires physical effort, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, and repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Illinois and/or Missouri RN licensure as applicable by state of work location, in accordance with Compact Act.
  • Basic Life Support certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dialysis experience.
