Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Procurement Forester / Log Buyer to purchase logs and timber from suppliers in West Central Wisconsin, Southeast Minnesota, and Northeast/Central IA. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of forestry practices and be able to negotiate with suppliers to secure high-quality logs and timber.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to logging sites and timber sales to measure, grade, and purchase logs and timber
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure a steady supply of high-quality logs and timber
  • Coordinate trucking and logistics to ensure timely delivery of logs and timber
  • Administer timber sales and upload scale data to the computer

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in a forestry-related setting with experience buying logs or timber
  • Strong understanding of forestry practices and logging industry
  • Ability to work independently in a safe and effective manner
  • Adherence to safety policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree from a 2-year technical program or 4-year undergraduate program in a forest products-related field
