Company Overview:
General Devices Co Inc is seeking a highly skilled Brake Press Operator to oversee our Brake Press division. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient operation of precision measuring tools, fabricating sheet metal components, and maintaining exceptional quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a team of Brake Press Operators, providing mentorship and guidance to enhance performance and minimize errors.
  • Prepare brake presses for operation by selecting suitable tooling, installing dies, and making adjustments for precise bending, angles, and dimensions.
  • Ensure adequate raw materials are available for production runs.
  • Assist in loading and unloading materials for the press brake, collaborating with team members as necessary.
  • Train team members on the operation of Accupress and/or Bystronic brake presses to meet customer specifications.
  • Cross-train team members to ensure versatility in machine operation and job requirements.
  • Determine the necessary working tonnage for projects.
  • Understand various bending techniques (air bending, bottom bending, coining, etc.) and the tolerances associated with different tooling.
  • Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to achieve accurate bending outcomes.
  • Utilize measuring instruments such as calipers and gauges to ensure precision.
  • Inspect raw materials for defects that may affect the bending process.
  • Engage in quality control practices to uphold product standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and company policies.
  • Strictly follow all safety regulations and guidelines.
  • May assist in other departments as required by business needs.
  • Conduct daily maintenance checks on tools and equipment.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly maintenance routines to ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff for annual preventative maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members.
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to assist and learn from colleagues.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Proven experience as a Brake Press Operator with advanced technical abilities.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing teams.
  • Ability to set up jobs on an Accupress Brake machine and execute multiple bends in a single piece of metal.
  • Familiarity with stamping presses and sheet metal fabrication methods.
  • Capacity to work accurately in a dynamic environment.
  • Physical endurance to stand for extended periods and lift materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Intermediate computer skills are essential.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or an associate's degree preferred.
