Position Overview:
General Devices Co Inc is seeking a highly skilled Brake Press Operator to oversee our Brake Press division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the precise operation of measuring instruments, fabricating sheet metal components, and delivering exceptional quality outcomes. This position demands a high level of technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and the capability to thrive in a dynamic work environment. A minimum of 5 years of experience with Accupress machinery is required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a team of Brake Press Operators, providing mentorship, guidance, and training to minimize errors and enhance performance.
  • Prepare brake presses for production by selecting appropriate tools, installing dies, and making adjustments to ensure accurate bends and dimensions.
  • Verify the availability of raw materials to complete jobs efficiently.
  • Assist in loading and unloading materials to and from the brake press, collaborating with team members as necessary.
  • Train team members on Accupress and/or Bystronic brake presses to meet customer specifications.
  • Cross-train team members to ensure versatility across various machines and customer projects.
  • Assess working tonnage and understand various bending techniques and tooling tolerances.
  • Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to achieve precise bending results.
  • Utilize measuring tools such as calipers and gauges to ensure accuracy.
  • Inspect raw materials for defects that may affect the bending process.
  • Engage in quality control practices to maintain high standards for all products.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Strictly follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • May operate other machinery in different departments as business needs arise.
  • Conduct daily maintenance checks on tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Participate in weekly inspections and monthly maintenance activities with the maintenance team.
  • Collaborate with maintenance for annual preventive maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, providing clear direction and motivation to team members.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to assist and learn from colleagues.
  • Consistent attendance and reliability in the workplace.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Brake Press Operator with strong technical capabilities.
  • Proven success in leading and coaching team members.
  • Expertise in setting up jobs on Accupress machines and executing multiple bends in a single piece of metal.
  • Strong technical skills in using precision measuring instruments.
  • Familiarity with stamping presses and sheet metal fabrication processes.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Intermediate computer skills are essential.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; technical certifications or an associate's degree are preferred.
