Speech and Language Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Pathologist to join our team at Gwinnett County Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing speech and language therapy services to students with identified speech-language impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Screen and evaluate students to identify those with educationally significant speech-language disorders.
• Participate in Response to Intervention (RTI) for students suspected of having a language disorder.
• Complete comprehensive evaluations of referred students.
• Provide appropriate and effective speech-language intervention to identified students in all areas of speech-language disorders.
• Communicate effectively with other school-level professionals to provide the most appropriate program for identified students.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding student's disabilities and progress.
Requirements:
• Master's degree in speech language pathology required.
• Professional work experience in speech/language preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) due process requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and parents regarding speech-language disorders.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members to plan and deliver speech-language services to children.
• Ability to create and deliver staff development.
• Ability to project and generate positive attitudes.
Working Conditions:
The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. Employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. Employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
