Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development and Instruction

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the IEP framework, including the referral process and the ability to implement strategies to achieve IEP objectives.
  • Prepare high-quality IEP teacher reports and adhere to submission deadlines.
  • Exhibit expertise in the subject areas being taught, ensuring relevance and engagement for each student.
  • Utilize technology effectively to enhance learning experiences tailored to individual student needs.
  • Design lesson plans that are logical, clear, and adaptable to diverse learning styles.
  • Collaborate with specialists to customize instruction for all learners.

Teaching Methodologies

  • Employ small group instruction models to support students with IEPs identified as Tier 2 or Tier 3 within our MTSS framework.
  • Maintain accurate records to track student progress and demonstrate growth over time.
  • Connect current lessons with previous and future learning experiences.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to cater to the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Engage students through effective questioning techniques and adjust teaching methods based on student understanding.
  • Encourage active participation from all students to maximize learning opportunities.
  • Present content in multiple formats to accommodate different learning preferences.
  • Hold each student accountable for their learning journey.

Assessment and Feedback

  • Utilize various assessment tools to inform and adjust instructional practices.
  • Implement both formative and summative assessments to evaluate student performance.
  • Provide constructive feedback based on diverse assessment methods.
  • Maintain organized records of student achievements to guide instructional decisions.
  • Continuously monitor student progress and offer meaningful feedback.
  • Exhibit proficiency in grading practices that accurately reflect student performance.

Student Engagement and Communication

  • Utilize clear and effective communication methods with students.
  • Establish and articulate clear learning objectives for each lesson.
  • Model respect, fairness, and active listening in all interactions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree in Mathematics or Science preferred.
  • NYS certification in Special Education preferred (must be on the pathway).
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in middle school preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in diverse educational settings.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience with educational technology is a plus.

Compensation and Work Schedule

This is a full-time, 10-month position with a salary range of $70,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with attendance at special events as required.
