As a Community Support Specialist, you will provide assistance to individuals and groups with disabilities in various community settings. Your role will involve helping clients articulate their needs and preferences for services and supports. You will implement tailored services to help achieve the goals outlined in each individual's Centered Plan. Understanding each person's unique background, social connections, and aspirations is key to your success in this role. You will work under guidance and supervision to fulfill your responsibilities.

Position Overview:

Bring your enthusiasm and skills to our dedicated team of caregivers as a Community Support Specialist. In this rewarding entry-level position, you will play a vital role in a care team, empowering individuals to identify and reach their personal goals, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives. Your responsibilities will vary daily, encompassing roles such as advocate, mentor, educator, companion, and more, while supporting individuals in both their home and community environments.

Compensation:

Work Schedule:

The compensation of $16.00 per hour applies specifically to hours worked during designated shifts.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED (Preferred) Minimum age of 18 years Valid driver's license

Key Responsibilities:

Educate clients on their human, legal, and civil rights. Encourage healthy lifestyles and prevent accidents and illnesses. Enhance self-advocacy awareness and support individual choice and decision-making. Accompany clients to various community activities, including work, entertainment, and shopping. Teach essential independent living skills. Provide transportation for appointments. Foster positive community relationships. Support decision-making regarding living arrangements, employment, and social interactions. Assist with personal care and household tasks. Document the care provided. Promote understanding of the diverse challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and utilize effective advocacy techniques. Connect clients with resources for career, education, and volunteer opportunities. Facilitate effective communication. Assist with medication administration as permitted by state law. Uphold confidentiality standards.

Pre-employment Requirements:

Complete a criminal background check. Verification against relevant registries. Drug screening. Verification of educational credentials and other qualifications as required. Proof of employment history or references, if necessary. For positions requiring driving, proof of driver's license, insurance, and vehicle may be needed.
