Job Description

Pacific Rail Services is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at the Union Pacific Avondale, LA Terminal.

This permanent full-time opportunity offers a competitive starting rate of $18-$20 per hour, based on experience, with room for advancement in a 24/7/365 facility.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate overhead and/or side loading lift equipment to load and/or unload containers, chassis, and trailers on and off railroad cars.
  • Perform daily pre-inspections to ensure the condition of tires, oil levels/leaks, hydraulics, lights, flashers, radio, damage, and camera.
  • Maintain safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, and ensure proper operation.
  • Activate work assignments using the onboard computer system.
  • Ensure a safe and injury-free work environment by being aware of surroundings while operating loading equipment.
  • Verify container, chassis, and trailer numbers accurately.
  • Foster clear communication with Ground Person and/or other personnel.
  • Comply with HAZMAT and OSHA regulations.
Requirements:
  • A valid Driver's License.
  • Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry from vocational education or similar work experience.
  • Pass a 7-year background check.
  • Pass a hair follicle drug test.
  • Pass an IPCS Physical Capabilities Test.
