About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Technician to service and repair heavy construction equipment. The successful candidate will perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to a supervisor.

  • The Heavy Equipment Technician will assess and operate various types of construction equipment including cranes, excavators, bulldozers, skid steer, rollers, forklifts, and wheel loaders.
  • Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assessing and repairing heavy equipment failure.
  • Diagnosing and repairing engine, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Lubricating components of machinery.
  • Delivering and installing parts on equipment at the job site.
  • Conducting general routine cleanup of equipment.
  • Checking, changing, and maintaining fluids in machinery.
  • Producing and maintaining detailed service reports as requested by the team leader.
  • Documenting new processes and knowledge gained from various repairs/encounters.
  • Providing excellent service and customer support.
  • Comprehending customer requirements and making appropriate recommendations/briefings.
  • Performing all job duties while following company safety protocols.
  • Building positive relationships with internal and external customers.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should have:

  • 3-5 years of construction-related experience preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of electrical and hydraulic schematics and diagrams.
  • Knowledge of new tier engines and emissions.
  • Basic understanding of computers and related software.
  • Knowledge of CAT ET and/or John Deere Service Advisor programs.
  • A Class D driver's license or the ability to obtain a Class D license.
  • The ability to obtain a TWIC.
  • Availability to work overtime including weekends, night shifts, and/or be on call as needed.
  • Ability to travel out of town as needed.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to work as part of a team successfully.
Physical Requirements

Candidates should be able to:

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls,
  • Sit, talk, and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Work on-site at the construction work site where there will be exposure to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $90,000 per year
