Position Overview

Community Living Centers, Inc. is committed to providing assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities within a supportive residential setting. Our mission is to create safe and nurturing environments that foster community integration.

We prioritize the holistic wellness of our residents by offering a variety of enriching experiences that promote physical, mental, and emotional health.

We currently have part-time opportunities available in our community living support program, with flexible hours tailored to meet the needs of our clients. Shifts can range from brief 2-3 hour engagements to longer durations based on client requirements. We strive to accommodate your availability.

  • Availability for some weekend shifts is required.
  • Effective and professional communication skills are essential.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are mandatory.
  • Successful completion of drug, alcohol, employment, criminal background, and motor vehicle checks is required for contract employment.
  • Current enrollment in a university where the individual served is attending is necessary.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with meal preparation, laundry, and light housekeeping tasks.
  • Support daily living activities, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the individual served while monitoring health conditions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including progress notes and timesheets, reflecting the goals and objectives of the individual served.
  • Encourage participation in recreational, educational, or entertainment activities, such as games, reading, and arts and crafts.
  • Provide assistance during medical appointments.
  • Transport and accompany the individual served to classes as needed.
  • Familiarity with the Culture of Gentleness/Gentle Teaching is beneficial.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required.
  • Completion of drug, alcohol, employment, criminal background, and motor vehicle checks is a condition of employment.
  • Must be able to attend classes with the individual served.
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university, such as the University of Michigan-AA, Hope College, or Central Michigan University.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is necessary.
  • Current certification in CPR/First Aid is required.
