Practical Nursing Specialist

Full-Time Opportunity

Indian Rivers Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated Practical Nursing Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in providing comprehensive nursing care to our clients.

Key Competencies:

  • In-depth understanding of mental health conditions affecting adults.
  • Proficient in both general and specialized nursing practices.
  • Awareness of the holistic needs of adult patients, including their emotional and physical health.
  • Experience in crisis management and behavioral intervention techniques.
  • Familiarity with educational methods suitable for adult learners.
  • Understanding of the implications of abuse and neglect on health.
  • Appreciation for cultural diversity in healthcare.
  • Possession of a valid MAS nurse certification.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough admissions for clients, including assessments and health screenings.
  • Monitor and document client behavior during group activities, ensuring effective communication with the treatment team.
  • Administer direct nursing care as required.
  • Manage medication orders and ensure compliance with administration protocols.
  • Oversee the medication administration system, ensuring staff training and accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Provide emergency care as necessary, adhering to established protocols.
  • Maintain clear and timely documentation of client interactions and treatment progress.
  • Support clients with dignity and respect, ensuring their privacy and confidentiality.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and adhere to ethical standards.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

Qualifications:

  • Current LPN license in the state of Alabama.
  • Experience in a mental health environment is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of psychiatric medical terminology.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Working Environment:

  • Position involves working in residential facilities with potential for long hours.
  • Physical capability to perform job duties, including lifting and navigating stairs.
