Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Indian Rivers Behavioral Health. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete admission processes for consumers, including nursing assessments, medical checklists, and medication administration records.
  • Observe and document consumer behavior, interacting with them to determine needs and ensuring pertinent information is reported to the treatment team.
  • Provide direct nursing care, transcribe and post medication orders, and administer medications while monitoring for potential side effects.
  • Monitor the medication administration system, ensuring all scheduled staff are trained and medications are obtained for consumers.
  • Review MARs, make changes as needed, and complete med monitoring to prevent complications and ensure effectiveness.
  • Communicate effectively with the RN, CRNP, and physician regarding consumer physical and mental conditions.
  • Interface with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Provide emergency care as needed, according to IRBH policy and procedures.
  • Monitor consumer medical status, make determinations on appropriate supervision levels, and adhere to professional code of ethics.
  • Document in a timely and clear manner, ensuring forms, notes, logs, and other written information are completed promptly and accurately.
Requirements
  • Current LPN license to practice in the state of Alabama.
  • Experience in a mental health setting preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology in psychiatric care required.
  • Familiarity with psycho-pharmacy and the use of psychotropic medication with the adult population preferred.
  • Current driver's license and good driving record as defined by Indian Rivers' policy.
  • Ability to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
Working Conditions

Works in residential facilities, may require long hours. Must have the use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees, consumers, and the public. Physical capability to use and operate various items of office-related equipment, such as computers, copiers, and multi-line phones. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and negotiate several sets of stairs in an 8-hour shift. Some risk involved in the event of aggressive/out-of-control consumers.
