Job Summary

This safety professional will provide dedicated support to construction activities involved with theme park expansion and infrastructure improvement projects. This role will also support on-going construction activity related to place-making, facility improvements and marquee special events. The EHS Specialist will primarily perform field inspections and audits on active construction job sites with office/administrative duties related to record-keeping, report writing and attendance at project planning or safety meetings. The role will serve as the primary safety liaison to the General Contractors Safety Representatives, conduct job site inspections to monitor conformance with client's Constructions Safety and Contractor Management Standards, conduct incident investigations, respond to construction related safety concerns, and generate infraction reports.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts field audits and inspections of General Contractor and sub-contractor safety programs and practices at assigned project sites, monitoring construction safety performance and verifying compliance with UDX construction safety standards and expectations with local, state and federal requirements.
  • Assists and maintains with the pre-qualification and renewal of site contractors/vendors in EHS Contactor Safety Database in accordance with the client's written program.
  • Proactively recognizes, evaluates, and advises on hazard identification opportunities to minimize safety or environmental impact to client's business operations.
  • Participates in project safety kick-off meetings and/or ongoing project meetings on behalf of the EHS Department to remain current with project schedule, priorities, and potential issues.
  • Provides project status reports and safety metrics to department management and appropriate Creative or other project management team members.
  • Participates in on-site investigative processes for any project related safety events and evaluating corrective actions taken.
  • Provides ongoing education and safety consultation to project teams and contractor personnel as to client's safety expectations and processes.
  • Facilitates in-person and virtual training on various health and safety topics.
  • Verifies project compliance with local and federal regulations upon project completion.
  • Fosters and promotes a positive business relationship with all project stakeholders.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a safety, environmental and/or construction field preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial and/or construction consulting role; or equivalent combination of and experience.
  • Professional designation such as OHST, CHST, ASP, or CSP or other nationally recognized professional designation preferred but not required.
  • Ability to identify and address safety hazards and concerns identified during job site inspections
  • Solid understanding of construction related safety concepts such as fall protection, scaffold erection, aerial lift, crane, trenching, steel erection, power tool usage, and electrical safety.
  • Proficient in use of all Microsoft Office Suite applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, TEAMs) and electronic database and recordkeeping systems (SharePoint, GenSuite, Intelex, Avetta, BROWZ. etc.)

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write health and safety related reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to provide guidance and coaching opportunities when faced with witnessing noncompliance or unsafe conditions
  • Ability to effectively present information & respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
  • Prior theme park or amusement park employment experience highly desired.
