About the Role

Caterpillar is seeking a highly skilled Machine Controls Validation Team Lead to join our team in Peoria, IL. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in the validation of machine controls and technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and lead a team of engineers to perform on-machine software & controls validation to achieve program targets
  • Perform software validation, identifying and reporting defects by operating heavy equipment
  • Collaborate with internal development teams to understand New Product Introduction (NPI) program content and develop and implement validation plans
  • Create and update software test procedures
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum or equivalent progressive experience working in an engineering function
  • Validation experience: experience in planning, executing, and reporting on test activities, ability to troubleshoot and solve technical issues
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to manage multiple ongoing projects at varying stages and implement organizational tools to achieve program goals and schedules
  • Hands-on work: a strong desire to engage in practical, hands-on tasks
Preferred Qualifications
  • Software development: experience in software development, including an understanding of different software development processes and requirements
  • Technical excellence: knowledge of CAN/J1939/Ethernet data link communications, working knowledge of datalink tools, and knowledge of Caterpillar internal tools
  • Products and services: knowledge of heavy equipment and ability to apply to diverse situations
