EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a diploma or degree.
  • Licensed as a Practical Nurse in Virginia.
  • CPR/AED certification is mandatory.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with team members to provide resident services and assist with daily living activities, ensuring high-quality care. Conducts rounds with physicians and adheres to infection control protocols. Evaluates resident injuries and provides first aid or refers to medical professionals as necessary; completes incident reports. Responds promptly to resident requests for assistance.
  • Receives and communicates reports between shifts, discussing resident conditions with team members and notifying physicians, guardians, and families of any changes. Alerts clinical leaders to significant issues and recurring concerns, while keeping the dining team informed of dietary modifications.
  • Conducts resident assessments upon admission, documenting treatments, reactions, and outcomes; coordinates with relevant resources (e.g., dietitian, physical therapist) for evaluations; initiates care plan development and evaluates resident responses to care plans, suggesting adjustments as needed.
  • Administers medications and treatments as directed by physicians and nursing protocols, in accordance with regulations and established procedures.
  • Performs clinical rounds to ensure resident safety, comfort, and compliance with regulations; assesses both physical and emotional well-being of residents. Provides education to residents and others regarding health issues and lifestyle choices.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fundamental understanding of nursing theories, practices, and procedures, typically gained through a nursing degree.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of common medical processes and treatments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • May involve frequent lifting (up to 50lbs).
  • Requires extensive walking, bending, stooping, and standing.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple responsibilities.
  • Capability to work both indoors and outdoors to effectively conduct rounds and respond to emergencies.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the demands of health services.
