Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate transport equipment while adhering to established protocols for patient and visitor movement across various hospital areas.
- Provide formal instructions and hand-off reports during patient transfers, ensuring clear communication and continuity of care.
- Monitor and report any changes in patient condition during transport, ensuring prompt attention to any concerns.
- Identify and report defective equipment to the supervising staff to maintain operational efficiency.
- Assist clinical personnel in safely lifting and transferring patients, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage I.V. and oxygen tank setups in accordance with established guidelines, ensuring patient safety.
- Clean and maintain transportation equipment following Infection Control standards to promote a safe environment.
- Assess patient readiness for transport, ensuring that all necessary equipment is prepared and available.
- Recognize signs of cardio-pulmonary distress and initiate basic life support measures until further assistance arrives.
- Utilize the patient transport tracking system to accurately record patient information and transport assignments.
- Deliver materials and equipment to various departments as directed, following operational policies.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the team and enhance patient care.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent must be obtained within the first three months of employment.
- Previous experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of patient transfer techniques and body mechanics is essential.
- Familiarity with safety and infection control policies is necessary.
- Proficiency in using electronic systems for data entry is required.
- Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with patients and staff.

The salary range for this position reflects a good faith estimate of potential compensation and may be adjusted based on various factors such as location, experience, and qualifications.
Minimum Hire Rate: $21.5774
Maximum Job Rate: $23.7750
