Job Summary

The Director of Behavioral Health is responsible for leading the development and implementation of behavioral health services at United American Indian Involvement (UAII). This includes overseeing the planning, budgeting, and management of clinical services, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement behavioral health services strategies to meet the needs of UAII's clients
  • Oversee the planning, budgeting, and management of clinical services, including staff supervision and training
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards, including HIPAA and state laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care to clients
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to promote UAII's behavioral health services
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behavioral health services, making recommendations for improvement as needed
Requirements
  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in clinical practice and management, including experience working with underserved populations
  • Knowledge of Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and Los Angeles County healthcare system
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations, community groups, and performance-based government contracts
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with American Indian/Alaskan Native community
  • Knowledge of Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (Public Law)
  • Experience working with underserved populations
  • Knowledge of Los Angeles County healthcare system
Work Environment

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the primary functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk frequently, sit, bend, twist, talk, and hear. There are prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with staff and vendors.

Mental Demands

There are several deadlines associated with this position. The employee must also multi-task and interact with various people on various and, at times, complex issues.
