Overview:


The Reliability Engineer serves as the expert in both electrical and mechanical maintenance, delivering essential support for small to medium-sized manufacturing facilities.

This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and is accountable for overseeing all maintenance operations, including the planning and execution of maintenance and engineering tasks within the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishes protocols and practices that promote a safe and environmentally responsible workplace, ensuring quality outcomes at reasonable costs.
  • Engages in initiatives aimed at continuous improvement in safety, health, and environmental standards.
  • Ensures the safe execution of all maintenance and project-related activities.
  • Guides the maintenance team in alignment with plant objectives and operational goals.
  • Provides consultative support to the engineering department.
  • Maintains compliance with engineering standards and regulations.
  • Implements systems and tools to enhance the understanding of maintenance expenditures and utility metrics in relation to reliability objectives.
  • Establishes benchmarks for equipment reliability and continuous enhancement (overseeing the Avient Reliability Program).
  • Supervises the daily functionality of utility systems at the facility.
  • Conducts inspections and troubleshooting of equipment as necessary.
  • Manages inventory and procurement processes for maintenance materials and services, including raw materials and physical stock.
  • Prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions for supplies and equipment based on engineering projects and maintenance requirements.
  • Creates and manages weekly schedules for routine and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Oversees daily instrumentation and electrical maintenance operations.
  • Ensures adherence to contractual obligations with external site partners.
  • Implements and sustains the CMMS (Limble) system.
  • Establishes and maintains preventive maintenance schedules and calibration protocols.
  • Analyzes maintenance tasks related to instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical systems to resolve recurring issues.
  • Recommends enhancements or new technologies to boost reliability.
  • Provides expertise in PLC (programmable logic controllers) installation, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Develops and executes training plans to enhance the skills of maintenance personnel.
  • Available to assist maintenance staff during emergencies.
  • Oversees capital projects and manages contractor work.
  • Administers the maintenance and capital budget.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant codes and standards for maintenance and project activities.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:


While executing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, use hands for handling tasks, and reach with arms.

The employee will often walk and occasionally needs to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate verbally. Lifting and/or moving items up to 50 lbs may be required. Specific vision abilities may include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Safety equipment usage is mandatory as dictated by the work environment, including safety glasses, hard hats, gloves, and other protective gear.

The work environment is primarily indoors with a high noise level. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles is expected. The employee may also encounter vibrations and occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals and electrical risks.

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
