The Reliability Engineer serves as the key expert in both electrical and mechanical aspects of process equipment, delivering essential maintenance and engineering support for manufacturing facilities of varying sizes.
This role is under the supervision of the Plant Manager and entails leading all maintenance initiatives, including the planning and execution of maintenance and engineering tasks within the facility.
Key Responsibilities:- Formulates programs, protocols, and practices that promote a safe and environmentally conscious workplace, aiming for quality outcomes at reasonable cost levels.
- Engages in ongoing safety, health, and environmental enhancement projects.
- Ensures the safe execution of all maintenance and project-related activities.
- Guides the maintenance team in alignment with plant objectives.
- Offers advisory assistance to the engineering department of the plant.
- Upholds engineering standards and regulatory compliance.
- Implements systems and utilizes relevant tools to enhance comprehension of maintenance expenditures and utility metrics in relation to overall reliability goals.
- Establishes benchmarks for reliability and ongoing enhancement of equipment (Oversees the Avient Reliability Program).
- Supervises the daily functionality of the site's utility systems.
- Conducts inspections and troubleshooting of equipment as necessary.
- Oversees the management of engineering inventory to adequately meet plant requirements, including maintenance supplies, contracting needs, process materials, raw material procurement, and physical stocktaking.
- Prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment based on engineering projects and/or maintenance inventory reports.
- Creates and organizes weekly work schedules for routine and corrective maintenance tasks for all non-urgent maintenance activities.
- Supervises instrumentation and electrical maintenance operations on a daily basis.
- Comprehends and adheres to contractual obligations with other site entities.
- Implements and maintains the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Establishes and upholds appropriate equipment preventive maintenance schedules and calibrations.
- Analyzes maintenance tasks related to instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical systems, addressing recurring issues.
- Recommends new equipment and preventive strategies to enhance reliability.
- Provides expertise in PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) installation, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Develops and executes a strategy to elevate the knowledge and skills of maintenance personnel.
- Available to assist maintenance staff during urgent situations.
- Manages capital improvement projects.
- Supervises and approves work conducted by external contractors.
- Oversees maintenance and capital expenditure budgets.
- Ensures compliance with relevant codes and standards for maintenance and project work.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
While fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, use hands for manipulation, and reach with arms.
Utilization of safety equipment as required by the work environment, such as safety glasses, hard hats, respirators, gloves, and other protective gear, is necessary.
The work environment is primarily indoors with a typical noise level that is loud. Regular exposure to moving mechanical components and airborne particles is expected. The employee may frequently experience vibrations and occasionally be exposed to hazardous chemicals and electrical risks.Scope:
