Key Responsibilities- Patient Check-in and Verification: Maintain the flow of patient check-in, verify demographic and insurance information, and enter data into our computer database to ensure accuracy.
- Communication and Scheduling: Assist with answering phones, taking messages, and responding to patient and staff inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Appointment Scheduling: Schedule appointments for patients in accordance with physician guidelines and ensure that all necessary information is up-to-date.
- Payment and Collections: Collect time-of-service payment amounts, collect prior balance amounts, and arrange payment plans as requested.
- Medical Record Management: Check in patients, verify and update necessary information in the medical record, and assist patients with completing all necessary forms.
- Front Office Support: Assist the front office lead/supervisor with other administrative duties, such as front-end tasks, denials, work queues, and correcting errors to ensure clean claims.
- Visitor Screening: Screen visitors and respond to routine requests for information in a professional and courteous manner.
- Confidentiality and HIPAA: Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to CHRISTUS Health guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Three or more years of experience in a healthcare organization.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good math knowledge, and ability to operate a 10-key calculator, telephone, computer, copier, and fax machine.
