Job Title: Occupational Therapist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping our residents achieve their maximum potential and maintain their independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development and Implementation:
    • Develop and implement occupational therapy programs and activities that meet the needs of our residents, in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Create and maintain occupational therapy standards and protocols to ensure high-quality care.
    • Utilize outcome measurement tools to standardize therapy methods and track resident progress.
  • Patient Care and Support:
    • Review physician orders and schedule therapy sessions as prescribed, ensuring timely and effective treatment.
    • Select and administer rehabilitative and therapeutic exercises based on medical history and resident needs.
    • Assist in discharge planning, care planning, and quarterly resident assessments to ensure seamless transitions and optimal care.
    • Maintain detailed treatment records, resident files, and progress notes to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    • Assist in the development of quality assurance programs for occupational therapy services, ensuring compliance with therapy laws, professional standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Administrative Functions:
    • Interpret and explain occupational therapy policies to staff, residents, and families, ensuring clear communication and understanding.
    • Ensure accurate therapy service charges and timely documentation, maintaining the highest level of professionalism.
    • Participate in facility committees as needed, contributing to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Safety and Sanitation:
    • Ensure therapy areas are safe, clean, and equipped with necessary materials, maintaining a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.
    • Follow infection control procedures and use safety equipment when required, prioritizing resident and staff safety.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of two years of experience in a hospital or nursing care facility, with a strong background in occupational therapy.
  • Licensure:
    • Must hold a current, unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state of practice.

Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work with the elderly and disabled, prioritizing their needs and well-being.
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy procedures and best practices, with a commitment to staying up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Proficiency in documentation and use of therapy-related software, with a strong attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, move, and carry up to 25 pounds, with the ability to stand, walk, and move intermittently during working hours.
