Job Opportunity

Dewberry is seeking a skilled GIS Analyst to support our Richmond, VA office. This role will focus on GIS analysis and production efforts for various civil engineering and environmental services projects. As a GIS Analyst, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to apply the latest technology to our projects.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • GIS data analysis and feature extraction;
  • Creating digital mapping products using various software platforms;
  • Capturing and analyzing data;
  • Developing and manipulating databases;
  • Elevation data processing and manipulation;

  • Assisting engineers in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, modeling, and floodplain mapping;
  • Producing Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMS) and updating related geospatial databases;
  • Developing flood risk products and performing flood risk assessments;
  • Performing analysis on GIS datasets for flood hazard mapping and risk projects;
  • Checking graphical and technical accuracy of FIRM deliverables and associated reports;
  • Coordinating with project teams, clients, and contractors to compile data for project deliverables;

Requirements

Requirements include:

  • Currently working towards a Bachelor's degree or higher in geography, GIS, Remote Sensing, or a related field;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop;
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to participate in resolving technical challenges;
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, especially MS Office (Word, Excel, and Access).

Program Information

Our Summer Intern Program provides hands-on project experience, develops technical skills, and puts classroom knowledge into action. Interns are assigned meaningful work and have the opportunity to work on projects similar to those of full-time employees.



Interns participate in a series of workshops and events, including:

  • Networking opportunities to meet other interns, staff, and senior leaders;
  • Learning about our services, projects, and clients;
  • Professional development workshops, including a career planning workshop and a DiSC assessment;
