GIS Analyst Intern

Dewberry Engineers Incorporated is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented GIS Analyst Intern to join our team in Richmond, VA. As a GIS Analyst Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including site/civil, higher education, energy and utilities, stormwater, and other water resources related projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform GIS analysis and production efforts in support of various civil engineering and environmental services projects.
  • Assist engineers in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, modeling, and floodplain mapping.
  • Develop flood risk products and perform flood risk assessments.
  • Check for graphical and technical accuracy of Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMS) and associated reports.
  • Coordinate with the project team, project managers, clients, local communities, and other contractors to compile all data necessary to produce the most up-to-date product.
Requirements:
  • Currently working towards a Bachelor's Degree or higher in geography, GIS, Remote Sensing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Participates in resolving technical challenges.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, especially MS Office (Word, Excel, and Access).

Program Information

Summer Intern Program

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee.
