Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule surgical procedures, testing, and pre-op appointments, ensuring timely coordination with providers and operating rooms.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations and manage consent forms for surgical procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Reschedule appointments due to schedule changes and surgery cancellations, maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with stakeholders.
  • Oversee provider schedule templates, input monthly schedules, and coordinate with practice managers as needed.
  • Enter appointments and schedules into the Practice Management System (PMS) and update data as necessary, troubleshooting issues and coordinating with staff and providers.
  • Complete Central Billing paperwork for surgical procedures, including procedure and diagnosis coding.
  • Collect deductibles and coinsurances pre-operatively, ensuring accurate financial records.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed, including serving as a backup to the Practice Manager for billing issues and assisting with special projects.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent training.
  • 1 year of experience as a Surgery Scheduler or equivalent training, or demonstrated proficiency in medical reception core functions.
  • Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology, including CPT and ICD coding and diagnosis guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Working Conditions

This role operates in a medical facility, requiring regular walking and interaction with patients, staff, and providers. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with exposure to sharps, x-rays, and potentially unpleasant sights and smells.
