About the Role

Citigroup Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Foundation Group Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Data Governance organization, you will play a critical role in supporting the definition and implementation of our Data Risk Control Framework, associated processes, and identification, measurement, and reporting of data controls assessments across various businesses and global functions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the Control Framework, including Risk Control Policy, Control Standard, Issue Management Policy, Lesson Learned Policy, and Control Inventory related to Data Risk.
  • Guide and influence governance and the facilitation of the execution of the Manager Control Assessment (MCA) as required by the MCA Standard, including the assessment and approval of risk associated with Data Risk.
  • Deliver analytics and reporting to Senior Management and Stakeholders at key governance forums and manage Senior Stakeholder interactions.
  • Support data risk and control programs for the organization, including defining the approach, processes, quality, tools, and reporting that provide global data risk management consistency and excellence.
  • Collaborate with control and business partners, as well as Operational Risk Management (ORM), Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Operations, and other cross-functional partners to support assessment of the data control environment and assist with data control implementation activities.
  • Lead review and challenge within the Functional Lines of Business (FLUs) on the effective design and management of data controls to mitigate data risks as required by the Data Risk Control Standards, including implementation and operation, conducting control monitoring, handling deficiencies, and escalating issues for resolution.
  • Ensure adequate governance and training are in place to support management of Risk profiles.
  • Take ownership to ensure that Data risk and control responsibilities and accountabilities are embedded within FLUs, including providing training and leading by example.
  • Lead analytical analysis of datasets to derive conclusions to support business strategy.
  • Lead activities to ensure roles and responsibilities related to data are understood and implemented across businesses.
  • Apply knowledge of the business, products, or services to identify and implement control points and processes throughout the business.
  • Assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications
  • 10 years of experience in Banking or Finance industry preferred in a Data Governance/Data Management/Process Engineering or related area.
  • Strong experience and understanding of Risk and Control environment; experience in designing and assessing data controls and conducting gap assessments.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to build partnerships and work well with others to meet shared objectives.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills across a variety of stakeholders at different levels.
  • Ability to optimize work processes by balancing effective/efficient processes with a focus on continuous improvement, demonstrating the ability to balance between seeing the big picture while paying close attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Data Operating Model practices, Data Governance, and Data Compliance within large, financial services firms.
  • Prior managerial experience managing a team of 5 individuals and interactions and negotiations with senior stakeholders.
  • Preferred prior experience working in a Big 4 consulting firm.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to see the big picture with high attention to critical details.
Education
  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred.
