About the Role

CAMBA is seeking a dedicated Housing Specialist to join our team at the Rising Up Men's Shelter in Brooklyn. As a key member of our social services team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals and families in achieving stable housing and employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Aid individuals and/or families requiring social service assistance
  • Interview and evaluate applicants for services, formulate service plans and goals, and aid clients to implement service plans
  • Locate and make use of appropriate community resources for clients
  • Assist clients in attaining their Housing related goals by identifying and referring clients to appropriate services both within and outside CAMBA
  • Conduct housing search efforts for each housing ready client referred
  • Complete CityFHEPS, EHV and other subsidy applications as program is tasked with by funder
  • Provide housing related support, training and coordination with the other social services staff
  • Review all approved housing packages to determine appropriateness of housing providers
  • Escort clients to appointments
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience
  • May be required to become First Aid/CPR certified
  • May be required to become certified in overdose prevention
  • Bi-lingual preferred

Homeless (often mentally-ill and substance-abusing) men and women are provided with comprehensive services to stabilize their condition in order to successfully transition into to permanent and/or supported housing.

CAMBA's Rising Up Men's Shelter is a 141 bed men's employment shelter located in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.

This shelter will provide an array of services with a strong focus on connections for residents to achieve stable employment to lead to permanent housing.
