Position Overview:

The Clinical Research Nurse (RN) plays a pivotal role in orchestrating, executing, and assessing clinical research initiatives, trials, and projects. This position involves conducting patient assessments, administering medications, and utilizing research tools while providing nursing support for specialized diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily management of assigned clinical research studies and trials.
  • Guide the development of research protocols, including literature reviews, resource evaluations, and feasibility assessments.
  • Supervise research coordinators and support staff as necessary.
  • Recruit and evaluate potential study participants.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for research patients, investigators, and staff, making referrals as needed.
  • Analyze clinical data to identify trends related to patient safety and report potential adverse events.
  • Act as an advocate for patients among investigators and clinical departments.
  • Collect and manage data, assisting in the creation of data collection systems and compiling reports.
  • Support investigators in grant writing, publication efforts, and the development of study materials.
  • Manage project-related information systems and databases, ensuring proper data handling and analysis.
  • Facilitate communication with other departments and external organizations regarding research studies.
  • Prepare operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory bodies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in nursing.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience, with prior research experience preferred.
  • Licensure: Current nursing license in the State of Michigan.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with principal investigators and stakeholders in managing research activities.
  • Understanding of research design principles, regulatory standards, and ethical considerations.
  • Familiarity with database systems and proficient computer skills.
  • Flexibility to work hours that accommodate study and patient needs.
