The Clinical Research Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in managing, executing, and assessing clinical research initiatives, trials, and projects. This position involves conducting patient assessments, administering medications, utilizing research tools, and providing nursing assistance for specialized diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of assigned clinical research studies and trials.
- Guide the creation of research protocols, which includes reviewing relevant literature, evaluating resource needs, and assessing feasibility. Address practical concerns such as investigator availability, patient population access, and financial analysis.
- Provide leadership and may supervise research coordinators or support staff.
- Recruit and screen potential participants for studies.
- Facilitate referrals to in-house or community professionals and serve as a clinical resource for research patients, investigators, and other team members.
- Analyze and interpret clinical data to identify trends related to patient safety, reporting potential adverse events in collaboration with investigators.
- Act as an advocate for patients, liaising between investigators, clinical departments, and cooperative groups.
- Collect data, assist in developing data collection systems, and compile reports.
- Support investigators and research staff in writing grants, publications, study materials, and correspondence.
- Manage project-related information systems and databases, including data collection, coding, storage, and analysis.
- Serve as a liaison to other departments, external organizations, and industry representatives regarding research studies or clinical trial matters.
- Ensure the preparation of operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory bodies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in nursing.
- Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience, with prior research experience preferred.
- Certification/Licensure: Current nursing license in the State of Michigan.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Proven ability to collaborate closely with principal investigators and stakeholders to manage the daily activities of research studies.
- Familiarity with research design principles, statistical methods, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards is preferred.
- Proficient in database systems and possess strong basic computer skills.
- Flexibility to work hours that accommodate study and patient needs.
