Position Overview

The Director of Strategic Procurement is accountable for the acquisition of essential commodities through the formulation and execution of sourcing strategies and the stewardship of supplier partnerships. Key responsibilities encompass price negotiations and supplier quotations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Anticipate procurement requirements and identify potential new suppliers
  • Conduct evaluations and certifications of vendors
  • Negotiate agreements and optimize cost-saving initiatives
  • Analyze sales orders and inventory to ensure efficient production workflows
  • Prepare and present cost-saving reports
  • Oversee cost reduction initiatives, creating value through superior sourcing strategies to minimize overall expenses
  • Identify areas for process enhancements
  • Collaborate with Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Research & Development teams to assess the quality of raw materials
  • Gather and review technical documentation
  • Establish long-term alliances with key suppliers and manage the supply chain to align with corporate goals regarding cost, quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction
  • Facilitate internal and external communications, including financial agreements
  • Foster and cultivate relationships with key suppliers
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure the availability of raw materials/components for the timely supply of finished products
  • Engage in industry events such as trade shows and professional seminars
  • Support the Sales department with accurate and timely cost-effective quotations
  • Assist in formulating and executing purchasing strategies for various products
  • Continuously enhance expertise to support growth in new initiatives

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, complemented by a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
  • Capability to prioritize tasks, adapt, multitask, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in building and maintaining professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems; familiarity with SYSPRO is highly desirable
  • Understanding of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and FDA regulations
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, thriving in a dynamic work environment.
