Job Title: Associate Environmental Scientist

Join Olsson's Industrial Environmental team as an Associate Environmental Scientist and contribute to projects that balance client needs with environmental stewardship.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Environmental Scientist to assist our senior scientists in delivering environmentally sound and economically viable solutions. As an Associate Environmental Scientist, you will gain hands-on experience through field surveys, data collection, and environmental assessments.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with field work, including soil, groundwater, and stormwater sampling.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation for environmental assessments, permits, and compliance measures.
  • Support small-scale project management, including monitoring timelines, budgets, and scope, under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Communicate complex environmental findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in overnight and out-of-state travel for fieldwork and site visits, with a willingness to work a non-traditional schedule as needed.
Requirements
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Wildlife Biology, Environmental Resources, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in environmental consulting or related scientific fieldwork.
  • Knowledge of wetland plants, soils, hydrology, and avian identification is preferred.
  • Proficiency with GIS/GPS for data collection and analysis is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel 50-60% for fieldwork.
