Job Overview

S&S Employment Partners is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Career Education Specialist to join our team in various locations in Iowa. As a Career Education Specialist, you will play a vital role in preparing students for successful futures by providing guidance, support, and resources to help them achieve their career goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with school administration to identify and select students fitting program criteria, ensuring seamless progression from district feeder programs.
  • Build and sustain a vibrant student cohort while promoting it within the school's community.
  • Conduct outreach efforts and informational sessions for prospective students and families to explain the benefits and opportunities provided.
  • Utilize a competency-based approach to steer project creation and cultivate a student-centered learning environment.
  • Instill the importance of organizational and time management skills that students will need to succeed.
  • Enrich students' practical understanding and skills.
  • Introduce project-based learning methodologies to develop engaging and transformative educational journeys.
  • Develop and maintain a positive, structured learning environment that promotes student engagement and participation through effective classroom management strategies, adapting techniques to meet the diverse needs of learners and ensuring equitable access to learning opportunities.
  • Implement effective behavior management plans and conflict resolution strategies to cultivate a safe, respectful classroom culture.
  • Cultivate an inclusive learning environment that encourages teamwork and community building.
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure that students complete their work on time and to a high standard.
  • Maintain accurate student records.
  • Analyze data to evaluate the impact of the program.
  • Manage and update Individual Development Plans and Individualized Educational Plans for students.
  • Implement comprehensive work-based learning programs that integrate academic learning with practical workplace experiences.
  • Introduce students to a variety of careers through interactive workshops and guest speaker sessions.
  • Cultivate community resources and develop partnerships that support the educational experience and new pathways for students.
  • Collaborate with the program supervisor and school administration to drive success of the program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Counseling, Education, or a closely related field is essential (Master's Degree preferred).
  • Relevant experience in secondary or post-secondary education environments a plus.
  • Strong understanding of academic support systems a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Ability to learn new computer software systems.
  • Skills in leveraging data analytics to refine instructional approaches and enhance student achievement.
