Position Summary
We are in search of a meticulous and creative Technical Designer specializing in Men's Apparel. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical foundation in garment construction, pattern making, and fit analysis, coupled with a strong enthusiasm for men's fashion. This role demands a keen eye for detail, exceptional communication abilities, and a collaborative spirit to work effectively with various teams to uphold the highest standards of quality and design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive technical specification packages that detail garment construction, including sewing techniques, trims, and measurements.
  • Assess incoming garments against vendor specifications to maintain accuracy and consistency across product lines.
  • Organize and monitor samples for fittings, ensuring adherence to approval timelines.
  • Conduct and facilitate technical fittings, documenting observations and compiling fit lists.
  • Maintain technical logs under the guidance of the design team.
  • Oversee the creation and upkeep of tech packs as directed by the Director of Design.
  • Produce detailed sketches, specifications, and tech packs.
  • Communicate effectively with factories using various methods, including pattern corrections and technical notes.
  • Manage style entries in a web-based Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external teams, maintaining daily communication with overseas partners and departments such as Design, Production, and Product Development.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary to support the company's objectives.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in technical design, fashion design, or a related field, along with 3-5 years of relevant technical design experience.
  • Experience in Men's apparel technical design, familiarity with PLM systems, and knowledge of 3D CAD are preferred.
  • High levels of creativity and artistic talent, with a strong eye for color, texture, and pattern.
  • Understanding of grade rules, sewing techniques, patternmaking, and draping.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

This position is based in our New York office. The salary range for this role is competitive.
