Position Overview

The Radiologic Intervention Specialist is responsible for capturing radiographic images of the body, utilizing specialized techniques to aid in the diagnosis of various medical conditions and injuries. This role involves assisting physicians during invasive radiological interventions.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

On-call duties required - Every third week (Weekday on-call is infrequent)

Must reside within a reasonable distance from the facility

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Certification in Basic or Advanced Life Support.
  • Current or temporary license from the Texas Medical Board (MRT) is required.
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R).

Experience / Skills:

  • Ability to assist in lifting and maneuvering patients in collaboration with team members to perform job functions effectively.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct specialized and invasive radiology procedures on patients, ensuring adherence to all radiation safety protocols: Prepare patients for examinations, explain procedures, administer contrast agents when necessary, position patients accurately, select appropriate imaging techniques, and ensure the technical quality of images.
  • Record and monitor patient data.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on radiology equipment and assist with accreditation applications as needed.
  • Identify and report any incidents, complaints, or equipment issues to management.
  • Respond to emergency calls within the department.
  • Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; comply with all policies, procedures, and standards while managing time, supplies, productivity, and service quality effectively.
  • Promote individual professional development by fulfilling requirements for continuing education and skills competency; support departmental goals that contribute to organizational success; serve as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff.
