We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shelter Director to join our team at the City of New York. As a key member of our Department of Homeless Services, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our shelter facilities, ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of our clients and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with all applicable legal mandates, agency standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the management of program capacity, including bed assignments and vacancy control.
- Manage the provision of social services, including direction and support to ensure programmatic goals and objectives are achieved.
- Participate in weekly case conferences with social services staff to address and resolve deficiencies.
- Direct the administrative functions of the facility, including staff adherence to city and agency policies and procedures.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four years of progressively responsible experience in a large governmental agency, business firm, civic or community organization operating in the area of social services.
- One year of experience at the administrative or managerial level.
- Graduate education or a license may substitute for up to a maximum of three years of experience in the area of social services.
