The Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and administering public health emergency preparedness activities. This role involves pre-emergency planning, emergency response coordination, and post-emergency functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain public health emergency response plans, manuals, and procedures, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Assign and track required staff preparedness training, documenting completion.
- Organize and conduct emergency preparedness exercises and disaster drills with county departments, government agencies, and community partners.
- Collaborate with department leadership to create and monitor annual work plans, ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Represent public health emergency preparedness at local, regional, state, and federal meetings.
- Provide advice and support to staff during emergency response situations.
- Conduct research and planning to enhance public health emergency response preparedness.
- Maintain updated contact and resource lists for emergency operations.
- Work with the Public Information Officer to develop messaging for emergency communications.
- Ensure emergency response plans and training exercises meet cultural, linguistic, and accessibility needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
- Prior experience in emergency preparedness, management, or response is preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including Internet, spreadsheets, and word processing.
- Competent in emergency management principles and public health preparedness.
- Ability to develop plans, coordinate teams, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including public speaking and report writing.
- Capable of fostering cooperation and collaboration within teams and external partners.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for effective decision-making.
Additional Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Oregon Driver's License.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift/move up to 10 pounds.
