Role Responsibilities:

1. Deliver engaging curriculum in alignment with established guidelines.

2. Foster children's development through intentional programming aimed at promoting achievement and a sense of belonging.

3. Oversee the classroom environment and all activities, ensuring adherence to safety and procedural standards.

4. Conduct regular observations and assessments of each child's progress.

5. Build strong relationships with families, facilitate parent conferences, and maintain open lines of communication.

6. Keep accurate program records as required.

7. Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming program site and equipment.

8. Support fundraising initiatives as needed.

9. Actively engage in program events and activities as assigned.

10. Participate in departmental, branch, and association meetings and training sessions.

11. Perform additional duties as required.

YMCA Competencies:

Qualifications:

1. Must meet educational and experience requirements set by state licensing regulations.

2. Minimum age of 18 years.

3. Prior experience in a developmental setting with children is preferred.

4. Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities.

5. Completion of YMCA cause and culture training, along with curriculum training before the first shift.

6. Completion of Child Abuse Prevention Training, BLS CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration within 30 days of hire (training provided by YMCA).

7. Ability to effectively relate to and develop meaningful relationships with diverse community groups, ensuring ADA compliance. Successful background check clearance is required.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

This role involves working in a classroom and recreational setting, requiring intermittent sitting, standing, walking, and engaging with children at their level. Candidates must possess sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to fulfill essential job functions and supervise programs. Evening and weekend availability is necessary, along with reliable transportation for travel among local branches and off-site facilities.
