Key Responsibilities:- Lead a team of medical management staff, including clinical risk analysts and risk management analysts, to ensure accurate and efficient medical underwriting processes.
- Oversee external underwriting support partners, such as electronic app vendors and offshore data processing vendors, to ensure seamless integration with our systems.
- Develop and implement underwriting strategies that ensure a quality underwriting work product is produced consistent with underwriting strategies, standards, and processes.
- Collaborate with TPAs to resolve operational issues and improve efficiencies in medical reviews.
- Manage underwriting staff, including underwriters, underwriting techs, quality assurance, and other support teams, to ensure they have the necessary resources and training to perform their duties effectively.
- Continuously analyze medical review processes to identify opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce cost, and improve the customer experience.
- Oversee external medical management partners, including medical management firms, medical record retrieval firms, and medical director consultants, to ensure they are providing high-quality services that meet our standards.
- 4-year Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
- 12 or more years of experience in underwriting and medical management (Preferred)
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of underwriters and medical management staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including claims, product, sales, and operations.
- Ability to analyze complex data and develop strategic plans to improve underwriting processes and medical management outcomes.
